What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where the sunroof glass may separate, posing a significant risk of injury or property damage to trailing vehicles.

Plain-English summary

Webasto Product North America, Inc. is recalling certain Hollandia 700 and 600 series and Hollandia TVS 900 series sunroofs. These sunroofs were installed as original equipment by Attention to Detail, Inc. on various passenger vehicles.

The adhesive bond between the sunroof glass and the metal frame can debond, increasing the risk that the glass will separate from the vehicle. Signs of this issue may include metal corrosion around the frame, wind noise, vibration, visual bond separation, or water leakage. If the glass separates, it could create a road hazard, strike a trailing vehicle, and cause a crash.

Owners who have been identified as having an affected sunroof will receive a safety recall notice from Webasto. The safety recall began on October 8, 2010. To determine if a vehicle is affected, owners should review the list of vehicles provided by Attention to Detail, Inc. or visit Webasto's website at www.sunroofcheck.com. Owners can also call Webasto toll-free at 1-888-749-8632.
