Plain-English summary
Atwood Mobile Products is recalling certain range/oven combo cooking ranges installed in recreational vehicles. The affected models begin with RV1735, RV2135, and RA2135 and were manufactured on or before September 20, 2010. These units were sold as original equipment in various recreational vehicles and as aftermarket equipment.
The recall is issued because the gas supply line to the oven box may be fractured. Gas can leak through the wall of the fractured line, leading to a potential build-up of gas in the recreational vehicle. In the presence of an ignition source, this leak may lead to a fire or explosion. The condition may also pose a risk of asphyxiation.
Atwood is working with RV manufacturers to identify owners. Affected units will be inspected, and those found to be defective will be repaired free of charge. Atwood will notify owners of record who purchased the affected units as aftermarket equipment. The safety recall began on October 4, 2010. Owners may contact Atwood at 1-574-266-4749 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
