Plain-English summary
Roll-Rite, LLC is recalling certain aftermarket electric truck tarp systems and assemblies, including Roll-Rite, Tarp Master, Super Duty, and Tarp Stretcher models. The recall involves units containing a specific solid state relay module (P/N 10999) sold separately or as part of electric kits with rocker or rotary switches (P/N 10990, P/N 10995), or with various other tarp assemblies.
The defect involves improper installation and/or a short circuit in the motor leads, which may cause the solid state relay module to overheat or burn. This overheating or burning could result in a fire.
Roll-Rite will notify owners of record. For undamaged relays, the company will provide a 30 amp manual reset circuit breaker free of charge to protect the relay from damage. For relays that may have sustained damage, Roll-Rite will provide a replacement solid state relay with a 30 amp manual reset circuit breaker, or a replacement mechanical relay with a 40 amp modified circuit breaker. The safety recall began on July 6, 2010. Owners may contact Roll-Rite toll-free at 1-800-345-3434.
