The product went to three retail consignees in California, Oregon and Connecticut, with no school or institutional distribution.

The FDA has classified this as a Class I recall, its most serious category, used where there is a reasonable probability of serious health consequences or death. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Anyone holding a carton matching an affected brand and lot code should not eat the eggs and should follow the retailer's instructions.
