Magic Creations of McKeesport, Pa., is recalling approximately 30,300 hand-shaped, three-wick Bleeding Hand candles in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The candles are skin-toned with a red base and feature five fingers, three of which have individual wicks.

The recall is due to a fire hazard. As the candle melts down to the palm, the wicks of the three fingers can burn together, generating flames that reach up to 7 inches high. Magic Creations has received one report of excess flames resulting in second-degree burns to a consumer's hands while moving the candle.

The candles were sold nationwide at specialty gift stores and small chain discount stores from August 1997 through October 1997 for about $1.
