What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (wiring) that poses a crash hazard, and the source text explicitly reports one incident with two injuries, meeting the criteria for a Severe (4) rating.
Plain-English summary
Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling approximately 3,900 model year 2015 through 2019 Ranger EV recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs). These vehicles were produced between April 2014 and January 2019 and sold in avalanche gray and pursuit camo colors. The vehicles were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from February 2014 through January 2019 for approximately $11,900.
The recall is due to an incorrectly wired chassis harness that can send an incorrect throttle control signal to the electric drive motor. This defect can cause the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, posing a crash hazard. Polaris has received eight reports of the recalled vehicles accelerating unexpectedly. One reported incident resulted in two injuries, which occurred outside of the United States.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ROVs and contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. Polaris is contacting all registered owners directly. Consumers can also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the “Product Safety Recalls” page at www.polaris.com to see if their vehicle is included in this recall.
