Spencer Gifts is recalling approximately 1,500 Mars Lightning 7001 dome electroplasma lamps sold exclusively at Spencer Gifts stores nationwide during December 2004 for about $30. The lamps, which simulate lightning bolts inside a glass dome glued to a black base, were manufactured in China. The recall is due to a fire hazard caused by arcing between an object and the removable cover of the lamp.

Spencer Gifts has experienced two fire incidents at two of their stores involving these products. One of these fires caused fire, smoke, and water damage. The affected lamps have a glass dome glued to a black base with writing under the base that includes the SKU number 00473421, "MARS LIGHTNING7001," and "LIGHTNING 2000."
