The recall is due to a malfunctioning circuit board that can cause the gas pool heaters to fail to ignite. This failure allows gas to accumulate in the heater cover. A delayed ignition of the built-up gas can result in a fire or explosion, which may cause property damage and injuries. Hayward Pool Products has reported four incidents related to this defect, but no injuries have been reported.
