The recall involves specific bottle and pouch sizes sold between September 1998 and August 2001. Rain-X® Washer Fluid Additive sold in 10-oz. and 16.9-oz. yellow bottles is not subject to this recall.

The products contain methyl alcohol (methanol), which is toxic and can cause blindness or death if ingested. Federal law requires these products to be sealed with child-resistant closures, but the recalled items do not have them. Blue Coral has received three reports of ingestion, including two children whose parents called the company's help line and were directed to immediate medical treatment.

The recalled products were sold at hardware, automotive, and department stores nationwide for between $1 and $5. Consumers should keep these products out of the reach of young children.
