myCharge Powerbanks Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

myCharge is recalling approximately 67,000 powerbanks sold from August 2018 through December 2019 because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards. The company has received 30 overheating reports resulting in seven injuries and property damage.

The lithium-ion battery in these powerbanks can overheat and ignite, creating fire and burn hazards. myCharge has received 30 reports of the powerbanks overheating, resulting in seven injuries including burns to the upper body, hands, legs, and/or feet of users, as well as property damage to household flooring, walls, and furniture.

Approximately 67,000 units were sold nationwide from August 2018 through December 2019 at Best Buy, Brainstorm, Hirsch Gifts, Hudson News, InMotion, Lapine, Power Sales, Projector World, and Target stores, as well as online at Amazon.com, mycharge.com, target.com, and through the U.S. Marine Corps/Navy Exchange for between $70 and $100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled powerbanks and contact myCharge for return instructions. myCharge will provide a full refund in the form of an electronic voucher plus a 25% bonus for redemption on mycharge.com.
